I'm currently involved in a project to clean my apartment--one shelf at a time! I'm tracking my progress with pictures, so I have plenty of photos. In fact I got a digital camera, figuring that in the long run it was cheaper than developing 25 rolls of film! (Ok, I'm exaggerating a little bit, but you get the idea.)

I live in a beach town in Los Angeles known as Hermosa Beach. It's just west of where I-405 meets I-91. The City of Hermosa Beach is about two miles long and about half a mile wide, so it's a pretty small place. In many respects, it's nothing like L.A. I have a car, but more often I take the bus to work. I work about 10 miles from my home.

My apartment is a studio with a kitchen are and a bedroom area. I have a tiny 2' x 2' closet and some shelves for clothes. Add a small bathroom, and that's it. It's small, and it suits my needs just fine. I like to travel a lot, so I don't need a big place. As part of the "cleaning one shelf at a time" project, I'm working on reducing the amount of "stuff" in my apartment. Back in 1997 when I moved in, I had shipped five boxes of stuff here to California. That plus what fit in the trunk of my 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible was all I had. Since then I've accumulated more stuff, so I'm in reduction mode, rather than looking to find a larger space.
