One day, I went to Hawaii. I spent the afternoon in Honolulu. I wanted to go, so I
went...for one day.
On the flight over, I sat next to a travel agent from the Philippines. He was on his
way home from an "Around The World" tour that he had won for being a top agent.
His name was Ricky, and we chatted for most of the flight. I really enjoyed his company,
and the idea of being a world traveler really appeals to me. We parted when I got off the
shuttle bus at Waikiki Beach. As I got off the bus, I noticed a rainbow in the
distance.... a sign?
I walked around the beach for a bit, and through the town. I had nowhere to go and
nothing in particular to do. I made it to the beach and the water. When I looked in my
pack, I noticed that there was one think I had forgotten to pack... my bathing suit! It
was still sitting on my bed at home, along with my towel! (And everyone knows that no good
traveler would ever be caught without a towel!!!) Well, I had come this far, so I
took off my clothes and went into the water in my underwear. Even though it was November,
the water was warm. If I ever get tired of L.A., Hawaii is a definite possibility
for a next stop. I got ready to leave the beach as the sun was setting on the horizon. In
case you didn't know, I really dig sunsets. (Yet another reason to live on the left
coast!)
That evening, I want to one of the local establishments for dinner, the Shore Bird
Beach Broiler. It's in the Reef Hotel. That evening, there was a man performing. I got his
autograph, but I can't read it, and I don't remember his name. He plays with a group
called Loco Spice. His Ovation guitar is very similar to mine. I have the shallow body
style, but in this photo, you can't really tell the difference.
